WELCOME BACK MIXER

Hosted on Friday, November 22nd, 2024

Greetings Schomburg Corporation,

As we approach the Schomburg Library Centennial in 2025 and 26, we need to remind ourselves that the Schomburg Corporation will celebrate 55 years next fall and that is one of the reasons we want to call members back to active involvement. I find myself reflecting on all the incredible stories that have emerged from this hallowed institution. It was here where voices once silenced found their strength and heritage was celebrated with fervor. Many of you can recall those vibrant gatherings filled with laughter and poignant discussions that resonated far beyond our four walls. Each interaction we had shaped not just our community, but also me personally; it fueled my passion for history, culture, and connection. Yet as time has passed, some cherished members have drifted away, either due to life's demands or shifting priorities.

In our quest to revive these invaluable relationships, we decided to create a unique invitation—a heartfelt call-back to what truly makes The Schomburg Corporation special: its people! Our centennial celebrations aren't just about milestones; they're about reuniting our Schomburg family forged through shared experiences of knowledge and empowerment. We’re planning a series of engaging activities—interactive exhibits, storytelling sessions led by beloved past members, and new projects featuring our contributions—to make sure everyone feels at home once again. We want you back in our halls where your impact is still felt deeply! Together we'll relive memories while creating new ones worthy of this extraordinary legacy we’ve built through decades together. Join us in writing the next chapter of our story; let’s recapture the magic we've shared over these years!

We will be hosting a mixer on Friday, November 22, 2024, in the ANT. We would love to see you and

reconnect. But you don't have to wait until then. Check out our new website at www.theschomburgcorp.org and fill out an application there or ask any questions that you may have. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Cyril Innis, Jr., Schomburg Corporation President
